Maple Lake Stock Farms is a family cattle farm located in Southwest Manitoba. Gerry is a commercial cattleman who has built his herd to exceptionally high
producing, sound females. He has developed a very consistent herd of purebred Simmental, Angus, and Shorthorn. Crossbred vigor is consistently working. Maple Lake Stock Farms has had many champion commercial pens at
Brandon Fall Fair, Yorkton Showdown and Canadian Western Agribiton. In 2015, Maple Lake Publicity 4437 was named Grand Champion Simmental Bull and ACC Candy's Big Hunk 34B was named Grand Champion Shorthorn Bull at
Manitoba Ag Ex, both getting an entry to the RBC Supreme Challenge at Canadian Western Agribition. See our Accomplishments page for more details!
The goals here at Maple Lake are to have sound, easy keeping females with udders that last. There are several cows in their 10 – 15th year of production. Thanks to the Critical Habitat Program for
weighing our cows and calves. It has proved the development of efficiency and consistently high weaning weights. Bull calves weaned at an average of 970 lbs. 2015 -cows weaned 67% of their body weight on average
(highs of 84 % weaned), and gained 110 – 200 lbs in pasture. Cows are pastured on native grass on a strict rotation, promoting grass growth. Bull calves are creep feed oats and corn 30-60 days prior to weaning using
the Quiet Wean program.
Gerry and his family market their seed stock at their family managed, Annual Fall Bred Female Sale, and their Kick off to Spring Bull Sale in March. They have previously done videos for the auction
sales, and are excited to sell live in their new barn on the farm in the fall of 2015. Thank You to all our past buyers. It is your satisfaction and success that makes us successful. We are very happy and
enthusiastic to be in this industry.
